This October, Mesa Public Library will hold its first ever Scary Stories Writing Contest for children in grades 3-5! Children can write their very own original scary stories to compete for a grand prize. Event details for the program are listed below.
Scary Stories Writing Contest

In 750 words or less, write the spookiest story you can. Here’s the catch – your story must take place in our eerie town of Mesa! Entry forms will be available at the children’s service desks at all library branches beginning Oct. 1. Deadline for submission is Saturday, October 20th at 5pm. Winners will receive a ghoulish prize and their stories will be read at “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” on Oct. 29 at the Main Library and Oct 30 at Red Mountain. Grades 3-5.

Miss Sarah will be sharing spooky folktales, selected especially for school-aged children. She will also read the winning stories from the Scary Stories Writing Contest. Bring a flashlight and join her…if you dare! This program is suggested for children in Kindergarten and up.
