The Monarch Haven & Reading Sanctuary at the Red Mountain library branch is an outdoor pocket park created not only for monarchs and other butterflies, but for our library patrons and surrounding community members as a contemplative place to read, learn, and enjoy nature.

Enjoy a short walk around a desert landscape planted with butterfly-friendly foliage and informational signs or sit and enjoy a book on one of the benches positioned throughout the site. The space also features a walking labyrinth for outdoor meditation.

This project was funded through a grant from the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community obtained by the City of Mesa's Library and Environmental and Sustainability departments.
