Magic the Gathering for Beginners

Talk Saves Lives: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention

Cori Frolander, Head of the Arizona Chapter of The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, will explain what suicide is, who it affects, what we know about it, and what can be done to prevent it.

Year Up: Connecting Young Adults with Education and the Workplace
Sat | Jan 18 | 2-3pm
Year Up is a nonprofit which readies community college students for the workforce, in addition to encouraging education. This year-long program trains under-served adults aged 18-24 on workplace skills and how to gain college credits, while connecting them with major companies for internships. Matthew Castner will explain the process and answer questions from interested attendees.

YAAS! The Red Mountain Young Adult Action Society (YAAS!) offers different activities for youth ages 14+. The group meets Tuesdays, 6-7:30pm.

This is our first meeting of 2020, so come find out how all this works. We will be brainstorming library programs, community service projects for the upcoming year, and deciding on group norms we can all abide by during our meetings.

Attitude of Gratitude

This week we will learn about how the human brain processes anxiety and gratitude (spoiler alert: you can't experience both at once) and implement a daily habit that helps us be calmly grateful for all the wonderful things in the world.

Teen Advisory Board

Teen Advisory Boards traditionally help library staff brainstorm ideas for how to best serve our young patrons. Some of the library's teen volunteers will join us to discuss potential events for our group to participate in or host in the coming months.
