Gospel Radio Man Bruce Nelson

"Gospel Radio Man" Screening and Discussion

This documentary tells the story of 96-year-old Brother Fred Larkins, the oldest living active African American Gospel Music DJ in the United States, followed by a discussion of the film led by creator Bruce Nelson.

Preschool Storytime Presents: J is for Jazz

Join us for a musical Preschool Storytime in honor of Black History Month. Experience jazz through lyrical stories and the music of classic artists like Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and more! Ages 3-5.


The Young Adult Action Society offers different activities each week for youth ages 14-24. We are making a positive difference in our library, our city, and the world! We're always accepting new members. This month, YAAS! presents these programs:

YAAS! African American Art History
Tues | Feb 12 | 6:00pm – 7:30pm | RM
Phoenix-based artist Antoinette Cauley leads a lesson and hands-on activity about Black art history and contemporary Black art in honor of Black History Month. Ages 14-24.

YAAS! Black History Month with Professor Golden
Tues | Feb 26 | 6:00pm – 7:30pm | RM
Mesa Community College professor Rod Golden leads an interactive discussion about Black History Month. Ages 14-24.
