Can I return Library materials after the Library closes?
  • Items may be returned in book drops available in the parking lots at all library locations except Mesa Express Library, which has a return inside the building open during Power Square Mall hours. No books may be returned at Mesa Express Library when the mall is closed.
  • Book drops at Main and Dobson Ranch are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week except on holidays, and emptied several times a day. Red Mountain Library has a drive-up book drop open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays. No items are due on holidays.
  • Main and Dobson Ranch have outside audio-visual drops for CDs, DVDs, and audio books. At Red Mountain, all materials can be returned in the drive-up drop, and at Mesa Express Library, all materials can be placed in the interior book drop.

Does the Library have any computers or typewriters for public use?
  • All Mesa libraries have computers with word processing software programs for public use. We do not have any typewriters for public use. Printouts cost 20¢ per page.


Does the Library have a fax machine for public use?
  • No, the library does not have a fax machine for public use at any location.


Does the Library have a photocopy machine? Is it able to reduce and enlarge copies or make color copies?
  • All Mesa libraries have photocopy machines for public use. 
  • These coin operated machines will reduce and enlarge copies and make copies on 8" x 11" or on 8" x 14" paper for 20¢ a page.
  • We do not have any color photocopy machines.
  • We do not have an oversized or map copier.

Can I have an examination proctored at the Library?
  • The Mesa Public Library no longer offers proctoring.

Does the Library have a Lost and Found?
  • Yes, we have Lost and Found at all four libraries.
    • Main Library: 
      • Youth Services keeps lost items of a general nature found in the library within the last three weeks. Call (480) 644-3100.
      • Check Out keeps more valuable items such as keys and wallets. Call (480) 644-3100.
    • Dobson Ranch Branch: (480) 644-3100

Books and Magazines


How do I borrow a book not owned by Mesa Public Library, but it is owned by another Library?
  • We offer free Interlibrary Loan Service for books and articles to all current Library card borrowers in good standing. Depending upon the item and the location of the lending library, an Interlibrary Loan request can take two to four weeks. Click here for more information about Interlibrary Loan.

Can I transfer a book from one Mesa library location to another for pick up?
  • Yes, see a Library staff member or call Telephone Reference at 480-644-3100.

Can I donate a book to the Library?
  • Main Library gratefully accepts donations of magazines, journals, books and music CDs.
  • A limited amount of donations can be accepted at the branches.
  • The Library also accepts funds for memorials. The fund should be given to the Library Director, (480) 644-2336, and the family and contributor will receive an acknowledgment.

How can I get a job at the Library?
  • The Library is a part of the City of Mesa. Current library jobs are posted on the City of Mesa Web site.
  • All job opening notices, applications and general questions about positions should be directed to the Personnel Division, City of Mesa, (480) 644-2365. 
  • They offer a 24 hour job hotline, 480-644-2759 or toll free 1-800-662-5053

Does the Library use community service workers?
  • The Library does not work with community service workers. Anyone needing assistance regarding community service should contact Western Judicial court, (623) 936-8828 for adults or youth or Juvenile Court, Keith Searcy at (602) 506-4428 for youth.
