Celebrating 1oo+ years

Celebrate with Us!

This year, your City of Mesa Library is celebrating more than a century of service! From its humble beginnings when the "Mesa Free Reading Room and Library Association" was established by a group of civic-minded citizens, our City has seen a whirlwind of change, and so has the library! It's time to celebrate this important milestone by taking part in events to commemorate our history and the importance of literacy and libraries in our community.

All celebration events made possible by generous support from our sponsors: Bookmans Entertainment Exchange, MCC Alumni Association, SRP, and Friends of the City of Mesa Library.

Events:

Library History Displays and Timelines

Now through July

Learn about the Library's interesting century-long history with a timeline featuring highlights from the past. See early library photos and enjoy many items including early books, library cards, and other historic artifacts showcasing the library's service to the community. Items on display in all three library locations, as well as timelines at the Arizona Museum of Natural History and the Arizona Museum for Youth.

Food for Fines to Support United Food Bank

Monday, April 14 through Sunday, April 20

Waive City of Mesa Library late fines on your library account (up to $10) by bringing in nonperishable food items to support United Food Bank during a time of need. (Only late fines will be waived during this event; lost and damaged fees do not qualify.) You can bring items to any of the three library branches during this event. Of course, if you have no late fines, you're still welcome to donate food items to help the hungry in our community.
