Internet Policy and Procedures
The procedure for dealing with
patrons (adults or children) viewing "sexually explicit" sites is as
follows:
-
If staff person witnesses
inappropriate use of the Internet, the staff person asks the patron
to leave the site.
-
If the patron does not leave the
site, or returns to the site later during the session, the person is
asked to leave the library for the day.
-
Repeated inappropriate use can result
in loss of Internet use privileges, and if particularly egregious,
loss of library use privileges.
-
City of Mesa Municipal Security
Officers at Main who witness inappropriate use either deal with it
directly, or report it to a staff person who handles it. Security
Officers at Main are always involved if patrons commit serious
offenses.
Parents may request that their minor
children not be allowed to use the library's Internet stations.
